Looking radiant depite her recent health woes, a sparkling Delta Goodrem was crowned Australia's new Princess of Pop
at last week's 17th Annual ARIA Music Awards. Picking up an amazing seven gongs, Delta was in high spirits all night.
Speaking backstage the Neighbours star who turns 19 next week confirmed she was putting all commitments on hold in order
to concentrate on getting better. " I see everyone performing and I can't wait to get back out there ", she said, " but I
have to look after my health ".
In a croaky voice Delta told reporters halfway through the ceremony that she wouldn't be attending the after-party. "
I have to say it's still early nights for me. I'm getting tired now ". There had been speculation in the lead-up to the ceremony
that Delta wouldn't attend but she made a huge effort to front up for the night - the most exciting of her career so far.
The singer was flanked by her mother Lea, father Denis and brother Trent. Acknowledging their support, Delta said their
love meant everything to her. The loudest cheers of the night were reserved for Delta, who drew gasps for her stunning Lisa
Ho dress and sexy short blonde hair.
